Who makes Timeline

Timeline is an iPhone app made by Marcel Marais. It records the places you visit with Apple’s visit detection, keeps that history on your phone, and can optionally let Claude or ChatGPT read it. It’s coming soon to the App Store.

Who writes the guides

The guides are written by Marcel Marais, who makes Timeline. They cover problems Timeline helps with, so we have an interest in the topic. We try to be fair to other apps, say where they do something better, and say so whenever Timeline is one of the options compared.

How each guide is checked

Every guide is researched from official help pages and from the makers’ own App Store listings, documentation and source code. Each one ends with its sources and the date we checked them. Screenshots of iPhone Settings and of Timeline come from Apple’s iOS simulator. When a step hasn’t yet been tried on a real phone, the guide says so.

Apps and help pages change, so we recheck guides and change the “Updated” date at the top when we do. If something is out of date or wrong, please tell us.
